New Trees and Ancient Earth
New trees and ancient earth,
All life is in the soil;
Giving to the warm brown birth,
And nurturing in oil.
The ashes of wind and frost,
That once was on the roads;
Is now into the past all lost,
With all its weary loads.
Only gray and darkish thought,
That shivers on the ground;
Like waves of twisting aeronaut,
That swirls bound and around.
There is no tired winter face,
In the routs of summer travel;
Such thoughts and sullen ways,
Are lost into the grayish gravel.
Fresh seedlings and new smile,
With longings stretch to sea;
Will be here for a long while,
With promises and reconcilably.
Green shoots pushing transition,
Through rusted winter ground;
Brook in melting premonition,
To bring flowing water around.
